TRANSIT is a collaboration with talented Australian artist cimota. Initially drafted as a retro skin, the finish was conceptualized with flowing lines across the finish in mind. Eventually, on the basis of my previous transit diagrams, the concept pivoted towards a visual representation of a fictitious train network consisting of Counter-Strike maps as stations.
We established a design language early on to ensure consistency from skin to skin. Each skin features a set number of lines connecting the major maps in-game, with one central station and non-train connections between maps of varying transportation types.
Each separate instance of the finish is, however, unique in its placement of maps. Maps are either clustered geographically or placed along the same line based on their real-life location, climate, or other common attributes.
